Winter has begun, which means that it is time to restore dry and damaged hair; so, let’s get our shine back! When you love switching up hairstyles, a lot of damage is undeniably going to occur. But, what can we do? Our hair helps us express ourselves.
After some research, I trust these tips will help you girls all renew dull hair and lock in moisture.
Tip # 1
Use a wide-toothed comb
After you’ve applied conditioner in the shower, use a wide toothed comb to gently work through the knots in your hair.
Tip # 2
Do NOT towel dry!
After so many years of squeezing excess water with our rough towels, and wrapping our hair in dry towels; now we hear this? Try and buy a microfiber towel, or even a soft t-shirt to gently dry your hair works better than an ordinary towel.
Recommendation: Coco & Eve Microfiber Towel
Tip # 3
Use Hair Masks
To lessen your chances of split ends, and conceal the damage already done, make sure you add a deep conditioning mask in your hair care routine! It doesn’t have to be expensive; you can grab one at any local grocery store if you aren’t looking to splurge. Cover your head with a plastic film after applying the mask.
Recommendation: Yves Rocher Repair – 2-in-1 Balm Mask.
Tip # 4
Get rid of heat
Repeated use of hot tools on your hair causes the protein structures to temporarily change, leaving your hair damaged. Heat also destroys the hair of its moisture, leaving it dry and frizzy. So, limit the heat and love your hair!
If you can’t live without the heat, then make sure you use a thermal protecting spray before each styling session, and a nourishing mask as directed above.
Recommendation: Yves Roche Repair – Fortifying Serum
Tip # 5
Oils revive and refresh dry and dull hair while deeply hydrating and nourishing hair.
Recommendation: Izil Nutritive Oil for Dry and Dull Hair
- This targeted blend of Moroccan organic argan, sesame, olive and aloe vera oils to deeply hydrate and nourish hair.
- The added mint essential oil and vitamin E work to repair and reverse the effects of stress on hair fibers whilst delivering a healthy boost of moisture from root to tip.
Tip # 6
Nourish with Protein, Folic Acid & Biotin
Protein is important for hair growth because hair follicles are made of mostly protein. A lack of protein in the diet has been shown to promote hair loss. Folic acid has been found to help the production of red blood cells and improve hair growth. It can be found in green leafy vegetables, wheat and oranges.
Another nutrient essential for healthy hair is biotin, which strengthens hair by improving its keratin infrastructure. Biotin can be found in brown rice, lentils and peas.
These simple changes to your hair care routine can really do wonders. Ready to look fabulous?
